For many years my interest in the city of Buenos Aires and the culture of tango argentino has been reflected in my work. In April 2003 a grant from the DAAD enabled me to live in the argentine capital for several months. The book »Mi Buenos Aires Querido« (My beloved Buenos Aires) was created in consequence of this impressive experience.

The title refers to a tango-song from 1934 in which the legendary tango-singer Carlos Gardel expressed the love to his home town. Inspired by the culture of tango, the book shows a drawn portrait of the district San Telmo accompanied by traditional tango-lyrics. The quarter and its inhabitants reflect a tango-culture which sometimes expresses itself loudly as a touristic attraction and sometimes silently, between the lines of argentine every-day life. The book was published in January 2006 by the Connewitzer Verlagsbuchhandlung, Peter Hinke, Leipzig.
